If your system is leaking, a sprinkler won’t shut off, or water is running continuously, you can stop the water flow using one of the following methods:
Option 1: Shut Off the Backflow Device
Locate the ball valve at your irrigation backflow preventer and turn it to the off position.
Option 2: Shut Off the Exterior Ball Valve
Outside your home, locate the ball valve dedicated to your irrigation system.
Important:
After shutting off the water, it is normal for sprinklers or leaking lines to continue running for 1–2 minutes while pressure in the system releases.
